Blackhawks at Sharks game 76: Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks host the Chicago Blackhawks tonight and the Sharks most definitely need a win against a team that’s out of the playoff race, especially if the Sharks want to stay in the race. As of this afternoon, the Sharks are two points out of a playoff spot but have a game in hand.

Screenshot

In other words, the team has a shot, but the margins are getting thinner every day and winning is starting to get more and more important.

The Blackhawks would love to play spoiler, especially because it would show that Chicago’s rebuild is going just fine. The Blackhawks are wrapping up the team’s roadtrip after beating the Seattle Kraken 4-2 on Saturday.

The Blackhawks beat the Sharks 6-3 on Feb. 2. This is the second of three meetings between the two teams.

San Jose Sharks lines tonight

For the Sharks, Macklin Celebrini was not at practice but he will play. San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng reports these are the lines out of practice.

Sharks’ Comeback Falls Apart in 6-3 Loss to Predators

Alexander Wennberg’s third-period equalizer felt like a turning point. After erasing a three-goal deficit, the San Jose Sharks had life, energy, and belief. But against a playoff-caliber Nashville Predators team, it slipped away just as quickly in a 6-3 loss Saturday night at SAP Center.

The San Jose Sharks fell to the Nashville predators 6-3 Saturday night at the SAP Center after a four game win streak. San Jose has yet to beat Nashville since 2019, and this game was another taste of what will come if the Sharks land a playoff spot. The matchup was physical, leaving the Sharks frantic in the first period. In the second frame, San Jose was able to tie it, but lost it in the third.

“I liked our response in the second,” Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky said. “Obviously disappointed with our third and just some things we did to kind of shoot ourselves in the foot.”

For the Sharks, Wennberg had the most fruitful game, having a total of 20 minutes and 31 seconds on the ice.

This game served as another reminder of what to expect in the playoffs. If the Sharks grow and learn from challenges such as these, it can be vital in their potential playoff run. Warsofsky points at more discipline, urgency, and overall better execution.

The first period was the Filip Forsberg show, where he scored two goals almost halfway through the frame. Followed by a Steven Stamkos goal sixteen minutes in. The period ended 3-0, where Juuse Saros was a brick wall. The Sharks effort was frantic. Plays weren’t connecting and the energy was all over the place.

The second period held a glimpse of hope for San Jose. The first fifteen minutes was the Sharks regrouping and finding momentum. Nick Leddy was able to secure his first goal as a Shark, putting the Sharks on the board.

YUP. pic.twitter.com/9GjFOSt20k
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) April 5, 2026

Four minutes later, Celebrini added on to the scoring with an electric snapshot goal over Saros’ glove.

Go ahead and celebrate that one, Mack. pic.twitter.com/0x9uycRGLv
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) April 5, 2026

The Sharks kept riding that wave of energy going into the third period. Wennberg tied the game, taking the puck all the way to the net from the Sharks’ zone, right past Saros.

We love Wenny!! 🕺🕺 pic.twitter.com/yFTyPJDcCg
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) April 5, 2026

The Tank was electric, and the Sharks proved they belong in this race. Nashville was bringing a playoff-level game. Hits left and right, attempted fights, the pot was being stirred more than usual. An example being Zachary L’heureux, the 22-year-old top-line forward who was giving the Sharks roughing adjacent trouble. The Predators totaled 18 hits, most not showing up in the box score.

Unfortunately, the Sharks were in for a rude awakening. The third period came with three more Nashville goals, putting the Sharks right back where they started when the puck dropped. The final score was 6-3, and San Jose could not keep up.

Not so Marvel-ous. pic.twitter.com/oiaeL88soz
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) April 5, 2026

“Tonight was a little bit different,” Warsofsky said. “In the sense that this is a playoff‑like game, just in terms of the intensity of it.”

In the aftermath, the message in the Sharks locker room was clear. There’s frustration, but no panic. Wennberg, who played a key role in San Jose’s surge, emphasized both the positives and the reality of the loss.

“We were talking about coming out in the third, being hungry,” Wennberg said. “I feel like we were good enough to win this game. Obviously come up short, but parts of it are good … It’s not going to be a straight road.”

That mindset reflects where this Sharks team is right now; competitive, but still learning how to close out games against playoff-caliber opponents. Even after giving up three goals in the third, the focus remains on growth rather than overreaction.

“We’re still in it. We’re still looking forward to it,” Wennberg said. “Right now, we’re just gonna learn to move on. There’s a new game, new challenge—that’s our aim right there.”

Special teams also proved to be a turning point. The Sharks’ power play failed to generate momentum, something Wennberg acknowledged needs to improve.

“We’re out there to score goals and at least get momentum,” he said. “So now we’re doing the opposite… something we gotta work on.”

Saturday night showed flashes of a team capable of pushing back against a heavy, playoff-style opponent. But it also exposed the margin for error that separates contenders from teams still finding their footing.

For San Jose, the takeaway is simple in that the effort is there, the belief is there, but execution, especially in critical moments, will determine how far they can go.

Predators at Sharks game 75: Lines, game thread and how to watch

In the grand scheme of games and the San Jose Sharks’ playoff hopes, this one is huge. The Sharks play host to the Nashville Predators tonight and this one has massive playoff implications. The Sharks and the Predators are tied with 79 points apiece and are fighting it out for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. This is the second of three meetings between the two teams, which means there is plenty of opportunity for animosity to build up. The last time these two teams met, the Predators jumped on the Sharks early and pounded them to a 6-3 final score in Smashville. The Sharks will need to come out hard tonight to erase the memories of that game.

Tonight will mark the first time that Yaroslav Askarov and Juuse Saros will face one another on opposite sides of the ice since the trade between the Sharks and Predators a few seasons ago. You’ll remember that the Preds traded Askarov because they felt Saros was the team’s goaltender of the near future. Tonight is a good chance for Askarov to prove to the Preds that the team made a huge mistake.

Checking in on the playoff race as of this morning, the Sharks are still tied with the Predators and the Kings with 79 points but San Jose has a game in hand over the other two teams and so, right now, the Sharks hold onto the upper hand. However, a loss tonight would put Nashville in the driver seat.

San Jose Sharks lines tonight

For the Sharks, San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng reports if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The Sharks have not tinkered with the lines since last Thursday’s win and will roll with the same lines.

Don’t mess with what’s been working!#SJSharks lines at morning skate:

Chernyshov-Celebrini-Smith
Eklund-Wennberg-Sherwood
Graf-Misa-Toffoli
Goodrow-Ostapchuk-Gaudette

Orlov-Desharnais
Muk-Ferraro
Dickinson-Leddy
— Sheng Peng (@Sheng_Peng) April 4, 2026

Goaltenders
Yaroslav Askarov
Alex Nedeljkovic

Nashville Predators lines vs. San Jose Sharks

The Predators are healthy with no injured players expected to miss tonight’s game. As we talked about, it looks like it will be Saros vs. Askarov for the first time since the trade. This is what NHL.com reports the lines are likely to look like for the Preds tonight.

Forwards
Zachary L’Heureux — Ryan O’Reilly — Steven Stamkos
Filip Forsberg — Matthew Wood — Jonathan Marchessault
Tyson Jost — Erik Haula — Luke Evangelista
Reid Schaefer — Fedor Svechkov — Joakim Kemell

Sharks Top Maple Leafs Without Star Power, Turn Focus to Playoffs

The San Jose Sharks proved they can win without their star, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4–1 behind a full-team effort, as contributions from every line showcased the depth fueling their late-season push. Facing one of the NHL’s top teams in the faceoff circle, San Jose flipped the script with a dominant performance at the dot and timely scoring throughout the lineup. It marked one of their most complete wins of the season, and a sign their supporting cast is ready for the playoff spotlight.

Without any top line or Macklin Celebrini production, the San Jose Sharks were able to pull off the win against Toronto, the number one team in the NHL in the faceoff circle. The home win at the SAP Center was controlled by the depth of the roster, with support from all lines. Leading the Sharks in the circle was Zack Ostapchuck. The 22 year old center opened the scoring, which followed a tone setting performance the night before in the Sharks win against the Anaheim Ducks, where he threw off the gloves.

“He just gets better and better,” Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said. “He’s a big man that can skate the play makes at the end of the game.”

On a wider scale, the connection of the lower lines was visible. Willaim Eklund, Collin Graf, and Adam Gaudette added to the scoreboard, showing that the teams depth plays a crucial role even without the top lines help.

This puts the Sharks in a guaranteed playoff spot as of right now. Desperation is the way Graf described the morale – something the Sharks will need to hang onto going into this wild card push. to Warsofsky, the teams connection off the ice is what sponsors the growth.

“They believe in each other.” Warsofsky said. “That’s where you make moves, and that’s where you make strides. That’s where you see a lot of success come from. And that group is extremely coachable… high character. And I think that was so powerful.”

Going into the matchup, Toronto stands number one in the NHL in the red circle with a 55.8–56% faceoff win rate. Those numbers were diluted to 46.7% against the Sharks, with Ostapchuck dominating in that area, who alone had a whopping 80% in the circle. That kind of performance not only shows growth, but a glimpse into what players will be key in a playoff game.

“He did a really good job tonight,” Warsofsky said. “[in] The Face off circle. He knows what to do in critical situations throughout the game. He’s learned a lot his pace. I can’t say enough about the case, but it’s a really good hockey for us.”

Unquestionably, the entire season Celebrini has been the star of the show. With his support the Sharks have been able to pull through in tighter games, but the team behind him is more important — and it showed last night. The production from all lines is what keeps the team composed.

“Mack obviously [has] been unreal here these last three games,” Warsofsky said. “It’s important for the group to show it can win, even though he doesn’t. It’s gonna take a group effort. We’re going to do this thing. It’s all about the team.”

As the playoff race tightens, the San Jose Sharks will look to carry that same depth-driven momentum into their next test against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Nashville’s physical defensive structure and disciplined play in their own zone will present a different kind of challenge, one that demands consistency across all four lines.

If San Jose can replicate this kind of complete effort, they’ll not only strengthen their postseason position, but continue to prove they have the balance needed for a serious playoff push.

Maple Leafs at Sharks game 74: Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks are looking to keep that winning streak going tonight, against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Sharks have won three in a row, most recently beating out the Anaheim Ducks in exciting, come from behind fashion last night. But the players need to turn the page quickly and get ready to host the Maple Leafs, who are on the second part of the California road trip.

The Leafs had an emotional win in Anaheim on Monday night, beating the Ducks 5-4 in a slug fest that saw Toronto trying to atone for the loss of Captain Auston Matthews. Max Domi beat up on Radko Gudas and then other Leafs players piled on. We’ll see if the Leafs come with the same emotion tonight or if it’s only the kind of feeling reserved for our friends in Southern California.

Toronto’s top scorer is William Nylander, who leads the team with 71 points. John Tavares has 28 goals to lead all Maple Leafs in goals.

Between the pipes, Joseph Woll is 15-14-6 with a .904 save percentage. Anthony Stolarz is 10-9-3 with a .894 save percentage. The difficulty for much of this season for the Maple Leads has been finding consistency in the net.

San Jose Sharks lines tonight

It sounds like today is a planned maintenance day for Ty Dellandrea given that he’s coming back from injury so he will sit out. Meantime, Igor Chernyshov is expected to be a game time decision depending on how he feels. If he’s not good to go, then it will likely be Philipp Kurashev getting to play in his place.

Alex Nedeljkovic starts since Yaroslav Askarov got the start last night.

Forwards
Igor Chernyshov — Macklin Celebrini — Will Smith
William Eklund — Alexander Wennberg — Kiefer Sherwood
Collin Graf — Michael Misa — Tyler Toffoli
Barclay Goodrow — Zack Ostapchuk — Adam Gaudette

Goaltenders
Alex Nedeljkovic
Yaroslav Askarov

Toronto Maple Leafs lines vs. San Jose Sharks

SportsNet reports that Steven Lorentz will get to start against his old team in place of Michael Pezzetta. On defense, Philippe Myers will play in place of Troy Stecher. In the net, look for Anthony Stolarz.

Forwards
Easton Cowan — John Tavares — William Nylander
Matthew Knies — Bo Groulx — Matias Maccelli
Dakota Joshua — Max Domi — Nicholas Robertson
Steven Lorentz — Jacob Quillan — Calle Jarnkrok

Celebrini and Sharks upset Anaheim 3-4

The San Jose Sharks are no longer just chasing a playoff spot. They are pushing for it.

With the regular season winding down and every game tightening the Western Conference race, San Jose delivered one of its most important wins of the season; a 4-3 comeback over the Anaheim Ducks at SAP Center. Against a division leader near the top of the conference, the Sharks showed they can compete with the NHL’s best when it matters most.

The Sharks entered the night sitting just behind the Los Angeles Kings for the final wild card spot, with a game in hand. Not long ago, they were coming off a six-game losing streak that threatened to sink their season. Now, they have won three straight and are back in the race, turning what once looked like a lost stretch into real momentum.

“A win at this time of year is a win, and you take it,” head coach Ryan Warsofsky said.

San Jose started strong, setting the tone early in a game they could not afford to let slip away. At 15:23 in the first period, Will Smith opened the scoring on the power play, finishing a clean setup from Macklin Celebrini to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead and early control.

Anaheim answered late in the period when Ryan Poehling tied the game, shifting momentum heading into the intermission. The Ducks carried that into the second period, where Alex Killorn gave them a 2-1 lead. The Sharks had chances, including a Celebrini shot that rang off the post, but struggled to convert as Anaheim tightened defensively and controlled long stretches of play.

For parts of the game, it looked like the Sharks were slipping back into old patterns. Strong starts followed by missed chances and costly mistakes. But this time, they didn’t break.

“We just kept playing, just kept competing,” Warsofsky said. “It’s just not going to be perfect. In any situation you’re gonna go through adversity… you just got to keep playing, and you’re going to keep competing, stick together.”

That approach showed immediately in the third period. Just 27 seconds in, Celebrini tied the game 2-2 with a one-timer from the slot off a pass from Smith, bringing life back into the building and resetting the game.

Anaheim responded again. Troy Terry capitalized on a turnover early in the third, giving the Ducks a 3-2 lead and putting San Jose back in a late-game deficit with time starting to run out. Against one of the top teams in the conference, it was the kind of moment that could define a season.

Instead, it revealed something about who the Sharks are becoming. Down to the final minutes, they turned to their best player. Celebrini delivered.

With 1:39 left in regulation, he scored to tie the game 3-3, firing a wrist shot through traffic from the circle. The play was made possible by Alexander Wennberg, who set a perfect screen in front.

We've got something special going on in San Jose. pic.twitter.com/dNDi5xtWtX
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) April 2, 2026

“He took the whole thing away. the goalie couldn’t see anything, and I had the whole side of the net,” Celebrini said. “That’s not going in if he’s not in front.”

The building erupted, but the Sharks stayed composed, knowing the job wasn’t finished. Just 68 seconds later, Celebrini controlled the puck behind the net and found Wennberg alone in the slot. Wennberg buried the chance with 31 seconds left, completing the comeback and sending the Sharks to one of their biggest wins of the year.

AND THE GAME-WINNING GOAL! pic.twitter.com/O8EPIHZezb
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) April 2, 2026

“I think it was just excitement,” Celebrini said “You heard the building is loud, and that’s a big win for us.”

For much of the season, games like this went the other way. Close losses, late mistakes, missed opportunities. Now, San Jose is finding ways to close, leaning into a simpler, more disciplined style when the pressure is at it’s highest.

“We just kind of kept it simple, just played in behind them, not give them any momentum, and at the end there we buried when it counted the most,” Celebrini said. “Every guy just did their job… we played simple and we didn’t force anything, and that’s what led to those goals.”

Warsofsky has emphasized that mindset all season, especially with a young roster learning how to handle meaningful games. The growth is starting to show in how the team responds to adversity.

“No one thought we’d be here, let’s be honest,” Warsofsky said. “And here we are, and we’re going to embrace it, and we’re going to keep going.”

San Jose is playing like a team that expects to be there, embracing the pressure and learning how to win in it.

“We got to get comfortable being uncomfortable,” Warsofsky said. “And that’s been the message all year long.”

For Celebrini, this stretch is new territory. The rookie is experiencing a playoff push for the first time, and he is embracing both the moment and the responsibility that comes with it.

“We’re winning games and we’re making a push. This is exciting,” he said. “I haven’t really been through this before, and I’m just trying to soak it up.”

There is still work to do. The standings remain tight, and every remaining game will carry weight as the Sharks try to complete their climb into the postseason. The Sharks understand what is in front of them. A playoff spot is within reach, but nothing is guaranteed. What they have now is momentum, belief, and proof that they can beat top teams when it matters.

“We just play, and we’re gonna continue to do that until game 82,” Warsofsky said.

Against one of the best teams in the conference, they proved they belong in the fight. Now, the push continues.

Sharks playoff/lottery odds April 2, 2026

As has felt like the case all season long, no one seems to want to grab a hold of the playoffs and take control. As a result, the San Jose Sharks, unbelievably, are still a factor in the playoff race today, even as the team also vies for a potential lottery pick in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. For Sharks fans, it’s the best of both worlds in some ways because you get the thrill of a playoff chase while still having the security of knowing that if your team falls just short, you have good odds of snagging a top ten pick in the upcoming draft. How often can you say something like that in any given season?

So, as the Sharks start this morning with just nine games left in the regular season, here’s how the team looks in both races.

San Jose Sharks playoff odds as of April 2, 2026

There were three games last night – two with Pacific Division implications. The St. Louis Blues pushed the Los Angeles Kings to overtime, but could not get the job done and allowed the Kings to get that extra point. As a result, the Kings claimed the two points. As Sharks fans know, the Sharks won in regulation over the Anaheim Ducks, getting the much needed two points and the regulation win.

As of this morning, the Kings’ win allows Los Angeles to hold on to the second wild card spot with 78 points. San Jose’s regulation win jumps the team to third in the wild card race with 77 points. The Nashville Predators also have 77 points but have played one more game than the Sharks, so the Preds are fourth in the race. The Winnipeg Jets and Seattle Kraken are still within striking distance.

Keep an eye on the RW column, also known as regulation wins. The Kings and Sharks have the best points percentage of teams not named the Utah Mammoth. The Sharks are well ahead of the Kings in regulation wins, so if it comes down to the tiebreaker, the Sharks have the advantage at this point.

Sharks Lottery draft pick odds April 2, 2026

Of course, the wins have also pushed the Sharks a bit further out of the lottery race. If it means that Macklin Celebrini and company learn what it’s like to experience an actual playoff race and how to win games when they count the most, then I think most fans will take that experience.

Just the same, it’s a good time to take a look at where the Sharks stand on the other side of the spectrum, the tankathon.

Crazily, a bit of a winning streak by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers or even the New York Rangers and the Sharks could find themselves with a nice consolation prize if the team misses the playoffs. Remember that any team can jump a maximum of ten spots in the draft lottery (the New York Islanders jumped from 10th to 1st last season), so the Sharks, at 22nd as of this morning, are close to the mix.

While I think most fans are rooting for the playoffs simply for the experience of it all, it’s nice to know that if the Sharks miss out, there might be a silver lining at the end of it all.

Games on the calendar today with playoff implications

The Sharks are back on the ice today, one of 14 games on the NHL calendar. This one has a little less riding on the line, as the Sharks play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Other games that affect the Western Conference wild card race include:

Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars 5 p.m. PT

Utah Mammoth at Seattle Kraken 7 p.m. PT

Nashville Predators at Los Angeles Kings 7:30 p.m. PT

Embrace the Chaos; Ducks at Sharks game 73: Lines, game thread and how to watch

Tonight’s battle against conference rivals, the Anaheim Ducks, is a test of growth, identity, and resilience for the San Jose Sharks.

The Ducks arrive with depth across their lines, elite scorers, and structured play. San Jose carries a brand of hockey that thrives in chaos, opportunistic, and unafraid to lean on its young stars when the game opens up.

But as the playoffs approach, the Sharks are still fighting for their chance at a wildcard spot.

“We need to be loose and enjoy the process and not so much worry about the end result,” Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said at practice on Mar. 31. “If you worry about the end result, you can develop some bad habits.” The team’s young core is learning what it means to compete under pressure and how to respond when the stakes rise.

The measure of progress is adaptation. San Jose’s defensive inconsistency this season has forced growth. Against a disciplined Ducks lineup, it becomes a training ground for resilience.

“We’re going to be prepared,” Warsofsky said, “but we’re not going to think the weight of the world is on our shoulders. We just have to help each other. It’s from coaches to players, support staff… we’re all in this together.” The Sharks must think, adjust, and react mid-shift, turning challenges into opportunities.

It’s about setting up tomorrow’s breakthrough. Facing a high‑caliber Ducks team pushes San Jose out of its comfort zone and into the discomfort that sharpens a team’s nerve.

“The most important thing is to make sure you’re preparing players,” Warsofsky said. “You get a pretty good routine, but at the end of the day, it’s about getting the players ready,” he added. Stepping into adversity tonight can become dominance in the playoff stretch.

In that sense, this matchup matters beyond the scoreboard.

“Every group’s a little bit different. Some want to be coddled and hugged, some need to be pushed and challenged. You have to feel that out as a coach,” Warsofsky said.

It’s a chapter in a larger story: a team learning to win in new ways, against new styles, and under new pressures. When the puck drops, that story can possibly take another defining turn.

Quick Bites: San Jose Keeps Playoff Hopes Breathing with Big Win

Coming off a long road losing streak, the San Jose Sharks emerged victorious in a back-and-forth home battle against the Saint Louis Blues at the SAP Center, winning 5-4. Macklin Celebrini, as he casually does, made National Hockey League and franchise history, scoring his hundredth point in one season. The win has more than just Celebrini credit, but Alex Wennberg provided two Sharks goals, and Adam Gaudette scored the riveting game-winner that now keeps the Sharks in the running for a wild card spot in the 2025-2026 playoff race.

“We gotta keep maturing as a group. not just one player,” Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky said. “That’s us as a team. We’re gonna continue to learn how to play at this time of year, in certain situations in the game, and we have the momentum; we want to step on it when we don’t. We’re going to simplify it.”

This game put the team in a very important position, where any game can break their shot at getting closer to the cup. Celebrini’s development has been key for the Sharks since he was drafted, but the real spotlight is on the people and players who set it all up.

The first period was goal-heavy, totaling five before the first intermission. On San Jose’s end, Wennberg got the Sharks on the board first, following a Blues goal by Theo Lindstein, to tie the game. On the power play, Celebrini secured his 100th point this season alone.

We've got all the angles of that one. 👏 pic.twitter.com/zVuUrhpPjS
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) March 31, 2026

That goal broke two exciting barriers. Celebrini is now tied with Erik Karlsson for most points scored in a single season in franchise history. In addition, Celebrini is now the sixth teenager in NHL history to score that many in a season.

“Yeah, it’s pretty cool,” Celebrini said. “I didn’t really think I’d do it this year, but a bunch of amazing teammates have helped me get here, and our goal is to win every night.”

The teenager remains humble even in moments as pivotal as this. He gives kudos to his team. In turn, Warsofsky sees it clearly.

“He’s kind of blossomed into a real, natural leader, as well as being more vocal, being more comfortable, and understanding how the game is to be played this time of year,” Warsofsky said. “But we saw it on day one, when Mack got here, how special it was going to be. We saw in the Olympics, on the national stage, how the world saw it.”

But it becomes more personal in San Jose. The fans, team, and community see it closely week by week.

“We see it every day,” Warsofsky added. “But what we see is not just the goals. It’s the points, but his leadership and capability, the way he plays without the puck, how hard he is to defend, and he’s an ultra competitor, and he drags guys into the fight.”

Celebrini was able to produce another goal in the first frame, tying the game again after Pavel Buchnevich answered back. The second period saw only two additions to the board, another equalizer by Wennberg against the Blues, his first of the night.

In the third, Cam Fowler brought the score to a 4-4 tie, giving the Sharks a little more pressure. With 20 seconds left, Gaudette let one rip, which sealed the win for San Jose.

THE HOCKEY GAUD! pic.twitter.com/4lpk46ZHcE
— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) March 31, 2026

The Sharks kept their postseason hopes alive with a crucial win, capitalizing on a tightly packed Western Conference race where every point carries weight. With little margin for error, the victory not only prevented them from slipping further behind but also allowed them to gain ground on the teams ahead of them.

“You know, this time of year you gotta, you gotta take the wins when you can get them,” Warsofsky said. “That’s a big win for our group. So we’ll take it. We’ll look at it. We’ll get better and get ready for Wednesday.”

More importantly, the Sharks are beginning to build momentum at a critical point in the season, a factor that often defines which bubble teams break through. Strong contributions from rising talent like Celebrini continue to energize the lineup, reinforcing the belief that San Jose can compete down the stretch and keep its playoff push alive.

Up next on Wednesday, the Sharks take on conference rival, the Anaheim Ducks. The race continues, and San Jose is not out of fuel.

Blues at Sharks game 72: Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks are back home and crazily, still in the playoff race. As has been the case all season, no one seems to want to take a strangle hold on those wild card spots, so the Sharks are still well within striking distance, just four points back of the second spot with games in hand on every other team ahead of them. But just behind the Sharks are the St. Louis Blues, who pay a visit to the Shark Tank today.

The Blues have not been kind to the Sharks this season.
St. Louis won the first two — a 3-2 overtime loss on March 6 and a 2-1 overtime loss on March 26. It was in that 2-1 overtime loss that Yaroslav Askarov got hurt. Askarov is apparently healthy enough to start today, but fans have to wonder if he’s 100%.

For the Blues, look for a similar lineup to last week, except for one major change. Top line center Robert Thomas appears to be healthy enough to play. Thomas missed last week’s game, but whatever ailed him is better now and he’ll be in the lineup tonight. Considering that it was a tough go of it for the Sharks last week, adding Thomas to the mix certainly isn’t going to make things better.

San Jose Sharks lines tonight

San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng reports that the lines will be the same as the last game, when the Sharks beat the Columbus Blue Jackets in regulation. The big change is that Askarov will be in the net with Alex Nedeljkovic backing up.

According to NHL.com, Thomas will center the top line with Pavel Buchnevich centering the second line. Look for Joel Hofer in the net for the Blues with Jordan Binnington backing up. We’ll see if Zack Ostapchuk and Logan Mailloux have another run in. Mailloux will be on the top pairing of defense with Philip Broberg tonight.
